Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Vertic Travel is operated by GuideMe SpA ("Vertic", "we"). We take your privacy seriously and we only collect the data we need to plan and run your trip. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it and what rights you have, in line with Chilean Law No. 19,628 and Law No. 21,719 on personal data protection. It is part of our Terms and Conditions.

Data controller: GuideMe SpA, RUT 78.166.956-3, Antonio Bellet 193, office 1210, Providencia, Santiago, Chile. Legal representative: Matías Córdova. Contact for privacy matters: info@vertictravel.com.

2. Information we collect

  • Contact and identity data: your name, email, phone number, country of residence, and for each traveler, date of birth, nationality and passport number (needed for park permits, lodging and transport).
  • Trip data: the trips you request or book, dates, group size, room and activity preferences, and the information you share in our tailor-made planning form.
  • Health and safety data: only what you choose to tell us, such as medical conditions, allergies, dietary needs, mobility limits and emergency contacts, so that we and your guides can keep you safe. Your travel insurance details are also collected here. We only process health data with your express consent, which you can withdraw at any time by writing to us.
  • Payment data: the amount, date and method of your payments. Card details are handled directly by our payment processors and are never stored by Vertic.
  • Communications: emails, WhatsApp messages and forms exchanged with us.
  • Content you share: photos, videos and reviews you send us.
  • Website data: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed and referral source, collected through cookies and similar tools such as Google Analytics.
  • Website forms: when you send an inquiry or a request through our website, we receive your name, email, country, how you heard about us (optional) and what you write in the form. To stop spam, we keep an encrypted (hashed) version of your IP address for no more than one hour. Our website forms never ask for your date of birth or health information.

3. How we use your information

  • To answer your inquiries, prepare quotes and manage your booking and payments.
  • To organize your trip, which includes making reservations and arranging permits with Providers and park authorities.
  • To keep you safe, including coordinating emergencies, rescues and medical care.
  • To send you pre-trip information and, after the trip, ask for your feedback.
  • To send newsletters and offers, only if you agree, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To understand how our website is used and to improve it.
  • To prevent fraud and to comply with legal and tax obligations.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only when needed to deliver your trip or to meet a legal duty:

  • Providers: guides, lodges, transport companies and activity operators receive the data they need to serve you (names, passport details when required, dietary or health information that affects the service).
  • Payment processors: Mercado Pago and WeTravel, plus our banks, to process payments.
  • Insurance and rescue companies: if an emergency happens, we may share your data with your insurer, a rescue service or medical staff.
  • Authorities: park administrations such as CONAF and other public bodies, when permits, registration or the law require it.
  • Service tools: email, analytics, booking and hosting tools that process data on our behalf, under confidentiality obligations: Vercel (website hosting and server logs), Resend (the emails sent from our forms), Upstash (the limit on form submissions, with your IP address encrypted) and Google (Analytics, as set out in the cookies section below).
  • Website measurement: Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which count visits and measure page speed in aggregate, without cookies and without identifying you.
  • Maps: the route maps on experience pages come from Esri. A map only loads when you click "Show map", and Esri then receives your IP address and browser details to send it.

Because our trips take place in Chile and our travelers come from other countries, your data may be handled outside your country of residence. We take reasonable steps to protect it wherever it goes.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your personal data only for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it for, such as answering your inquiry or running your trip, and to meet our legal obligations, in line with Chilean Law 19.628 on the protection of personal data, as amended by Law 21.719.

Invoices, receipts and the records that support our transactions are kept for 6 years, as required by the Chilean Tax Code.

Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe.

When these periods end, we delete or anonymize your data.

6. Your rights

Under Chilean law you have the right to:

  • Access: know what data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure: ask us to delete data we no longer need.
  • Opposition: object to specific uses, such as marketing.
  • Portability: receive a copy of your data in a structured, common format.
  • Blocking: ask us to pause the processing of your data.

To use any of these rights, write to info@vertictravel.com. We will reply within 30 days. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.

You also have the right to file a complaint with Chile's Personal Data Protection Agency (Agencia de Protección de Datos Personales) or, if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, with your local data protection authority.

If you live in California: we do not sell or share your personal information, as those terms are defined in California law.

7. Photos and videos

We may use photos and videos taken during trips for our website and social media. If you prefer not to appear in them, tell your guide or write to us before the trip. Content you send us is used under the license described in Section 10 of our Terms and Conditions.

8. Cookies

Our website uses a small number of cookies. Necessary cookies make the site work and cannot be turned off. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager) tell us how the site is used so we can improve it.

If you visit us from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics cookies are only set after you accept them in our cookie banner. Everywhere else, analytics cookies are active from your first visit, and you can turn them off at any time.

You can change your choice whenever you want through the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without analytics cookies.
